Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner
The Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner aims to provide professional development opportunities for practitioners working in the Early Years workforce at Level 3. This qualification will embrace the wealth of experience of the Level 3 Early Years Workforce, and challenge learners in both their daily practice and theoretical understanding. You will acquire and use skills of leadership, mentoring, coaching and reflection as you complete the qualification through work-based learning opportunities.
What does this course cover?
The content covers the age range from 0-5 years and includes the following areas:
Enabling Children to Learn
Promoting health and well-being through physical activity and nutrition co-ordination in the early years
Working with others to support children with additional needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disability
Working with families and other professionals in early years settings
Implementing change in an early years setting incorporating a small scale research project
Learners will develop and use skills of leadership, mentoring, coaching and reflection as they complete the qualification through work-based learning opportunities.
Who is it suitable for?
Suitable for learners aged 18 and over, who are currently employed as an early years Level 3 practitioner.
It would suit learners who are looking to develop leadership and specialist skills for use in their current role, or in preparation to take on a specialist role such as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator or a Physical Activity and Nutrition Coordinator.
It would also suit learners who want to progress to further learning to take on a position of leadership within the setting.
Entry Requirements
Learners must be 18+ and hold a full Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification. You must also be employed in an Early Years setting to complete this qualification.
Progression Opportunities
Level 5 qualifications such as the Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services.
This qualification will prepare learners for study at a higher level, for example a Foundation Degree in Early Years.
Although the qualification will not be eligible for UCAS points, it could provide evidence for a personal statement to enable mature students to enter Higher Education.

How Are Our Courses Delivered?
Delivery
Courses are taken online via distance learning.
This allows you to plan your study time and learn at a time that suits you.
Your Tutor will be available to support and guide you throughout your study, even though you will be working away from them.
Your Tutor will be an expert in your field of study.
At the start of your course you will be provided with a support and study plan that offers key information to guide you through your course.
The submission dates of your written assignments will be agreed at the start of your course to support you and keep you on track with your learning.
Taking the Course
You will be issued workbooks focussing on the topics in your chosen subject.
There will be informal activities to complete in these workbooks to consolidate your knowledge.
In the last section of the workbooks you are given the opportunity to complete the extension activities.
When the workbooks are complete you will be asked to complete assessments.
Assessing Your Work
Your Tutor will review the assessments you submit via written feedback.
You may be asked to amend answers that do not meet the criteria. Your Tutor will explain what is needed before resubmitting.
Your Tutor will confirm when all the criteria has been met & your work will be submitted for moderation.
A sample of your work may be reviewed by an external moderator for quality checking both your work and your Tutor’s marking/feedback.
When you have successfully achieved all the assessments for the qualification your certificate will be requested from your Awarding Organisation and sent to you in recognition of your achievement.
